About me

IMG_3009The love of reading and writing, combined with my grandma’s stories about attending fashion shows as a buyer, set me on my journalistic journey. I’ve covered a little of everything: senior proms at nursing homes, the fairy tale wedding of a cancer survivor, and orphaned potholes for the Mineral Daily News-Tribune; sporting events, in-air re-enlistments, and training while serving in the Army; red crabs, Christmas shopping, and wolves at Scholastic; and suicide prevention, veteran employment, and new equipment at Business Insider.

I’ve been happily employed as an editorial assistant for Guideposts magazine since June 2013. But something big is coming up that I desperately want to be part of: the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. I want to work on the Olympic Village newspaper, inspired by this 2012 New York Times article. It would be such a fantastic way to meld my longtime love of writing, watching sports and mingling with international crowds. And I want to visit Rio anyway–what better reason than keeping the athletes informed?
